Notting Hill

I'm not a big reader, but I enjoyed my time spent reading this book. This is a great love story with touch of comedy. The story is about how the most famous actress of the world, Anna, met an unsuccessful bookstore owner, William. She is from Beverly Hill and he is from Notting Hill. They have different style of live but finally they found the love together. The story is very entertainment and has characters very funny as Spike, he's stupid William's lodger. I like Anna’s character, who being rich and famous can to love a common man. In this novel there’re two quotes from the main character that I think are very important in this history. The first is: “I live in Notting Hill. You live in Beverly Hills. Everyone in the world knows who you are. My mother doesn’t always remember my name.” William said. And the second is: “It’s no real, you know… being famous. I’m also just a girl. Standing in front of boy. Asking him to lover her.” Anna said. Fantastic quotes for me, I’ll always remember it. This book is easy to read, it’s not necessary use to dictionary and the story is very entertaining, so you cannot stop reading. For this reason I recommend this book to ESL student it helps to improve his vocabulary and reading skills.

Pac-Man

I'm not fan of video games, but when the people talk about them I always remember Pac-Man. I was teen I spent much time playing it with my brothers, cousins and friends because we made Pac-Man marathon at home on weekend when the family met. The game is funny and I like its sounds; it's possible I didn't learn anything playing this game, but I had an amazing time with my family playing the most popular game of Atari in these years. Sometimes I play this game online or in my phone, last year was very popular one version of Pac-Man in Facebook and many friends playing online for obtain the best score, everyone had his memories alive in the mind. After Pac-Man, arrived a revolution of video games from Nintendo Company with better visual effect, colorful, sound,  and great themes; leaving obsolete Pac-Man in one old  generation ago. Nowadays, there are a lot of very interesting games where the people learn to play and develop strong skills because now the games are more complex, serious and have full patterns, but also they are very entertaining. As I said in the beginning I'm not in the video game world, but if I have choose one game for play I choose Pac-Man; for me it's very addictive and funny game.

Transportation

Depending on the purpose of the travel and along it,  I choose the best way for each occasion. In my city I prefer to get around by car or subway; if I need to go outside the city I travel by  car or bus, but if the travel is a long distance I usually travel by plane. Sometimes I travel by boat when I'm on vacation. I usually go to my work by car, but if I need to move from my work to other place I prefer use the subway; because the subway station is inside of the building where I work. It's more easy and quickly to move in subway in Caracas instead spend a lot time stuck in the traffic. If I need to go outside Caracas such as Valencia or Maracay for two days or more I prefer travel by car, instead if the travel is a day round trip I take a bus. In the same way, for long distance travel I almost always prefer to travel by plane. For my work I travel a lot, I worked in Dominic Republic for eight month in 2009 and I have scary and funny experience on my first trip to Puerto Rico and Dominican Republic. Between two Islands always the planes experienced severe turbulence, my first time I was very scared and my face looked terrible. On my next trips, I enjoyed seeing the scary faces of others pasengge, I always remember my first time. About travel by boat, for me I've had my best experience because frecuently I travel by boat when I'm on vacation.  I took a cruiser to trip to Caribeean Islands, it was simply fantastic. Enjoy everyday when the cruiser arrives a new port, a new island, it means one day of sun, beaches and tropical drinks. In conclusion, if I need to choose a way to travel I choose travel by boat because it mean for me time on vacation and time to enjoy of the life.

My Passion: La Vinotinto.

 Soccer and baseball are my favourite sport but the soccer is my passion. Since I was a child I remember Diego Maradona made amazing goals and incredible plays; it wake up my passion for this sport. Nowadays this passion has grown and I enjoy when I watch play soccer to my national team, better known by the nickname of "La Vinotinto". I enjoy each play, each game, each victory and defeat suffer. Many years ago our team lost almost every game they played; today they give their all to achieve victory, which is now very common to see. Sometime you win sometime you lose, but the important thing in soccer is to give everything on the court. We have never been in a World Cup, but neither had been among the top 100 teams in the world, we are now among the top 50. Before our players were all local tournament now play in the best leagues in the world, including Argentina, Spain, France, Germany and Italy. We had never beaten Brazil, who have been five times world champions, or the double world champion Argentina. We beat Brazil in friendly game last year and beat Argentina in official game in the current World Cup Qualifying last month. All this has pushed up the hope of being in the World Cup, which is my dream. For all this, my passion is greater each day  and I hope to shout a goal of my Vinotinto in the next World Cup of Soccer: Brazil 2014; that is my dream and that of millions of Venezuelans. My passion our passion, La Vinotinto.

The Safest City: Calgary

These months I've been studying in Calgary and I'm enjoying my life here because I can do many things that in other countries is a risky to do. For example, everyday when I take the C-Train I use my laptop or Ipad freely without fear that someone steals. In contrast, it's impossible to do that in Caracas because there are many thefts on any public transit systems. Simple things, such as walking around the downtown using my smartphone while in my city had been victim of mugging. In Calgary I see as many people remotely turn on your car or if they will go to a supermarket for a few minutes left on his car turn on in front it. This for me is a joke because in my country people leave their cars always with any security device active and still they say that they not know if when return the car will be there. Still worse than when they are in the car could be victim of carjacking because the trauma of these types of thefts is strong. In addition, I always read the news and in this city the crime rate is incredibly low while Caracas is one of the most dangerous cities in the world. In fact, it's not a good example  to compare these two cities because the difference in safety is great. However I have visited many other cities of this continent and from my experience I have come to the conclusion that Calgary is the safest city I've known.

Won The LotoMax

I won the LotoMax and it's paying 10 million dollars; now I'm planning everything to do in the next year. I will a completely take year to travel and study English in 3 different countries of the world. First, I'll be studying in Australia for the firts three months of year, during my stay here I'll living in Sydney but I'll visit other cities such as  Melbourne, Adelaide, in fact I'll be to going sightseeing in many cities of Australia. Second, I'll move to England and I'll be to starting a new English course and meeting new people. I hope to know cities such as London, Liverpool, Manchester and Cambridge. I'll go to soccer all weekends because it's is one of my favorite sports and I couldn't miss the opportunity to enjoy the games of English Premier League. Third,  I'll move to United States and be to starting a new English course again for 3 months, now in Boston, changing the country changing of sport. Here I'll enjoy to baseball and basketball while I study English. In this time I'll visit other cities such as Philadelphia, Chicago and New York. I'll go sightseeing in these cities and will go to games in the amazing stadiums of the teams of NBA and MLB. Finally back to Canada, I'll be continuing my English course in the University of Toronto; here the classes finish at 1 pm, then I have the rest of the day to go sightseeing. In this city I can continuing with my favorite hobby, the baseball, I can go to Skydome or take a flight to New York and go to the games at Yankees Stadium. After one completely year around the world studying English I'll move to one beautiful island in the sea Caribbean. I'll buy a big house near the beach and all my family will live here with me, then will start a own business that will be tended by ourselves. In this way, the rest of my life will be full of sunshine and beaches with a lot of Caribbean flavor.

The Chinita's Fair

The best days of year in Maracaibo are the days of The Chinita's Fair, these day are in November. Many people funny celebrate the day of their Virgin with many religious and recreational activities, as visit to Church, or go to some event in honor to Chinita. There are a lot thing to do, like as go to baseball game, bullfights, Latin concerts, Gaitas concerts and taste different dish of typically food from Maracaibo. The traditional Chinita's game where play the local baseball team called "Aguilas del Zulia" (in English means Zulia's Eagles). The hot afternoon of Bull where many people go to the enjoy the Bullfighs. The best bullfighter win the Chinita's gold rosary. The last two days are the best; the tradition is stay awake for the finally party that start the 17 of November with many Gaitas concert in different place of the city including one in front the Chinita's church; and all ends the next day, the 18 of November that is Chinita's day. It's fantastic, magic, religious and always rainy (always rain this day), they say that virgin always cry in her day. If you want to know Maracaibo, its traditions and food; I recommend you that come to the  Chinita's Fair, one of the best fair of Venezuela. I promise you that I'll spend the better because the people from Maracaibo is very friendly. For all these good things, I say to the world that come to Maracaibo for Chinita's Fair; here all is cute and funny!!.

The Best City to Live in Venezuela.

I've lived in the three biggest cities in Venezuela. These cities are Caracas, Maracaibo y Valencia. For me Valencia is the best city to live in Venezuela. First, the crime rate in Valencia is lower than Caracas and Maracaibo. Live in a security city is a good reason to choose a place to live. Second, Valencia is a city less crowded than Caracas and very similar in population to Maracaibo. In Caracas the traffic is always stuck all day on weekdays, Maracaibo and Valencia have this problem only in peak hours. Third, enjoy the free time in the best beaches of Venezuela and one of the best of the Caribbean sea, Los Cayos that is a group of small islands located in Morrocoy National Park. In my case I love the beach and Sun. When I lived in Maracaibo I spent 6 hours to Morrocoy by car and from Caracas I spent 4 hours, but from Valencia to Morrocoy just spent 45 minutes o you can go to Isla Larga just 25 minutes. For all these reasons, I think that Valencia is the best city to live in Venezuela.

A few days to October... MLB's Playoff 2011

The regular season of best baseball of the world "Major League Baseball" finished. It started in April with 30 teams, now just has 8 teams classified to the Playoff or Post-seasons. Now is the time of enjoy of the best of the best. It's the time when the best players should show the best of themselves. Each game has play how if it was the last. Now it necessary that each team show your better game to goals the glory and win the League and obtain the ticket to the World Series 2011 where only one team will be the absolute Champions. The MLB has two leagues: American League and National League, now in post-seasons will has two new champions of leagues whom play the World Series and defined the champions to the best in 7 games. The team to win 4 games will be the new Champions of the World.

My favorite team to win the American League and the World Series is New York Yankees. It is a historical team that has many good points to became in the new champion. In theses days we'll see if I made a good prediction while it is time to sit on before TV and enjoy it because the show is coming soon!! :)

   I'm Jose Colina. I'm SAP Netweaver Certified Consultant. I've been working with SAP solutions since 8 years ago. I have experience in areas such as SAP Netweaver/Basis Administration, Process Integration & Portal, OS/DB Migrations, Upgrades, TDMS and SAP BOBJ. I've worked in platform Unix/Intel on different database such as Oracle, MSSQL and MaxDB. Actually I work at SAP Company I attend the region SSSA (Spanish Speaking South America).

I'm from Venezuela but now I'm studying and living in Canada. In these days I taking a ESL Semester Program at University of Calgary in Calgary, Alberta. I've known interesting persons from different countries around the world since I arrived to Calgary. We are 270 international students from 17 different countries. I hope to have a better English when I finished this course.

More about me, I love baseball and soccer, always on weekends I watch many games on TV and share this relax time together a friends and should never miss a good beer!!. In Calgary there are many local beer such as Big Rock Traditional or Grasshopper and Alexander Keith's beer.

Ah!! The Wednesdays is wing's day or "Wingsdays". I enjoy the best chicken wings with different sauce and cold beers at any pubs of the Calgary.
